“Bulldogs Dream, Too” – A California Dream Act Service Incentive Bonus Grant

What is the “Bulldogs Dream, Too” bonus grant?

The “Bulldogs Dream, Too” is a bonus grant made possible by the University of Redlands‘ 2022-23 Inclusive Community and Justice Fund after being submitted by Associate Director, Thomas Guzowski. The bonus grant provides an additional $500 to each U of R student who receives the California Dream Act Service Incentive Grant.

You are automatically enrolled into the “Bulldogs Dream, Too” bonus grant when you apply to the California Dream Act Service Incentive Grant.

To apply for the California Dream Act Service Incentive Grant–

  1. Download and print the grant application
  2. Begin tracking your service hours

To receive the “Bulldogs Dream, Too” bonus grant, you must qualify for and receive the California Dream Act Service Incentive Grant.

California Dream Act Service Incentive Grant requirements–

  1. Complete and submit the California Dream Act Application
  2. Be a recipient of a Cal Grant A or Cal Grant B award.
    • Cal Grant A recipients must have met Cal Grant B eligibility
  3. Have a verified financial need by CSAC or the University Financial Aid Office
  4. Perform a minimum of 150 hours per semester or 100 hours per quarter of volunteer service with a qualifying organization

You may request payment after performing at least 150 hours per semester or 100 hours per quarter of volunteer service.

Directions to request payment–

  1. Complete the Payment Request Form
    • Section 2 must be completed by the Financial Aid Office
    • Section 3 must be completed by the Service Organization
  2. Email completed form to dsig@csac.ca.gov

What is the Cal Grant Award, Cal Grant A, and Cal Grant B?

As part of the eligibility of the program, you must be a recipient of the Cal Grant A or B. The Cal Grant is free college money awarded through FAFSA or the CA Dream Act Application.

Where can I volunteer to obtain the required service hours?

You can volunteer at any place found on the List of Service Organizations.

Any on-campus community or volunteer service organizations affiliated with the University of Redlands, such as outreach, student services, and multicultural organizations are deemed eligible.

If you would like to collect your service hours at an organization NOT listed, they must meet the criteria for a qualifying community or volunteer service organization.

Am I ineligible if I’m undocumented?

No! The “Bulldogs Dream, Too” bonus grant is specifically designed for undocumented students attending the University of Redlands.
