Connect with Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders Through These Professional Orgs!

If you’re looking to give your résumé a boost, attend free workshops, and network with those who share your goals, consider joining a professional organization. You may also consider joining an organization thatat intersects your career with your identities, such as a Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander. Check out a few excellent professional associations, below.

Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement

This nonprofit and its members come together to support the cultural, economic, political, and community development of Native Hawaiians. In particular, they provide financial education and resources to underserved communities in Hawaii.

Native Hawaiian Organizations Association

This association unifies nonprofit organizations that provide valuable opportunities to the Native Hawaiian community. Unfortunately, you may not join as an individual member, however, if your employer may choose to join in order to access critical industry information, regulatory changes, and a massive network of peers.

American Samoa Association for Career and Technical Education

Join one of the largest national education associations for professionals who seek to support others in their own careers. If you plan to seek a career in education, you may want to join.

Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance

This organization unites the diverse population of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Their mission is to advocate for issues around economics, racial and immigrant causes, and leadership development.

Additional Considerations

You may notice many professional organizations have membership fees. If you’re a student, check to see if they offer a discount. If you work for an employer that serves a particular community or industry, ask your employer if they’re an affiliate or if they would be open to cover your membership dues.
