Overview

The Neurodiagnostic Lab compliments Barnes-Jewish Hospital’s Neuroscience division. Our Epilepsy Monitoring Unit is a Level IV Epilepsy Center, utilizing state of the art video monitoring equipment with a dedicated staff of Neurologists and Neurodiagnostic technologists.
Role Purpose
Performs academic and routine inpatient and outpatient neurodiagnostic EEG testing procedures at both BJH and SLCH. Academic only procedures done under supervision include, long term video EEG set up & monitoring, electrocorticography, cortical stimulation mapping, routine and/or intra-operative somatosensory evoked potentials, and intra-operative EEG monitoring with/without robotics.
Responsibilities
- Validates physician orders, enter relevant patient history into the EEG record, enter EEG set-up and disconnect notes into the electronic medical record, enter procedural charges into the electronic billing system. Archive EEG study data.
- Performs routine, extended, and ambulatory EEGs with set-up, disconnect, and data upload. Performs Long Term EEG monitoring, (academic locations only).
- Analyzes live and delayed EEG recordings. Performs annotation and clipping of long term video EEG data with supervision. (academic locations only)
- Perform evoked potential and cortical stimulation/mapping procedures with supervision at the bedside and in the operating room (academic locations only)
- Perform electrode maintenance and impedance checks to ensure EEG quality.
