Intro to Intellectual Property (IP) - Clinics

2pm – 4 pm IP Clinics
The “Bulldog IP Clinics” are a wonderful way for our UR community to get one-on-one time with IP lawyers. Think of these as 30-minute in-person helpdesk for startups, entrepreneurs, and content creators. Individuals (students, staff, faculty) or teams can attend together. We answer questions about IP; flesh-out inventions; brainstorm on branding and copyrights; develop social media strategy; strategize about funding; and/or show attendees how to run their own trademark and patent searches.
4pm -5 pm “Intro to IP” Presentation
The nuts & bolts are basic; let’s look at the end goal work backwards. When it comes to patents and trademarks — too many companies focus on filing, filing, filing… without appreciating that the main reason to have a robust IP portfolio is to generate revenue. Instead of academic theory, we’ll teach by case studies to show how we’ve helped our clients around the world – from startups to Fortune 500 giants – monetize their IP by:
(1) increasing valuation for business sales
(2) blocking competitors
(3) extracting value from alternatives
(4) cross-licensing with litigation aggressors
(5) turning one invention into 100
(6) creating and licensing standards
