Accounting Student Intern Job Description
Job Title: Business Office – Accounting Intern
Student interns are trained in a variety of tasks under the direction of their supervisor, Marylou Herrera. Their role is to assist not only their supervisor but also the rest of the Business Office staff as needed. Student interns are responsible for the tasks below. The tasks are shared by four interns.
Preparing Journals (review supporting documentation and create general ledger entries)
o Accruals/actuals
o Actual expense transfer requests
o Corrections
o Cash orders
o Chargebacks
o Departmental billings
o Departmental deposits
o Financial aid
o Liabilities
o Online deposits
Ø Preparing Reconciliations
o Bank accounts
o Bookstore accounts
o Donation payable
o Financial aid clearing
o Financial aid receivable
o Gift reconciliation
o Health life insurance
o Miscellaneous receivable
o Petty cash
o Rental income
o Security deposits
Ø Other
o Creating Collections folders
o Filing journals
o Formatting bank statements
o Pulling and reviewing prepaid invoices
o Uploading subledger donation packages to the general ledger
o Other tasks as assigned
Preferred but not required:
Ø Accounting major
Ø Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Ø Detail-oriented
Ø Ability to work independently

Location:
Business Office – Foothill Community Church 2nd floor, 777 N. Alosta Ave., Azusa, CA 91702
Purpose: We are hiring student intern to help with accounting work and at the same time help and train the students in actual work environment.
Qualification: Prefer students who have taken accounting classes.
Willing to be trained and after learning the processes, willing to train other
Students.
Physical/Mental demands – Climbing stairs to get to the office. Light lifting. Spend long hours in front of a computer.
