Job Description and DutiesUnder the supervision of the Environmental Program Manager I, the incumbent performs professional scientific analyses and fieldwork associated with appropriate use of pesticides and serves as a Central Region lead on various complex pesticide use enforcement programs and issues. The incumbent provides leadership and motivation in accomplishing CRO’s program functions and objectives; is a resource for and trains both county and DPR staff; and provides education and outreach for professional organizations. The incumbent is instrumental in facilitating and maintaining a collaborative working environment.The Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) works closely with the Environmental Scientists assigned to County Agricultural Commissioner’s Offices (CAC) to assure compliance with the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) and State pesticide and environmental protection laws and regulations. The incumbent may be assigned as an Enforcement Branch Liaison (EBL) and will be involved in helping to devise plans to mitigate hazards to human health and the environment. Lead responsibility may be over one or more programs and activities as necessary such as the California’s Pesticide Residue Monitoring (Food Safety) Program, the U. S. Department of Agriculture Pesticide Data Program (PDP), Product Compliance Program, and Cannabis Program at CRO.You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement.
