The Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) classification’s standard pay range is $6,816.00 to $8,479.00. NOTE: Effective July 1, 2020, State employees are subject to a 9.23% salary reduction in exchange for up to 16 hours of the Personal Leave Program 2020 (PLP 2020) per month.

Under the direction of a Supervising Water Resource Control Engineer, the incumbent serves as the Water Board representative on the Bay Restoration Regulatory Integration Team (BRRIT), a multi-agency collaborative team to ensure timely action on project applications and compliance with federal and state water quality requirements. The incumbent will be responsible for: reviewing applications and preparing certifications for Clean Water Act Section 401 Water Quality Certification (Certification); reviewing Reports of Waste Discharge and preparing Waste Discharge Requirements (WDRs) under the California Water Code; preparing other Water Board authorizations, as needed; and coordinating with other BRRIT regulatory agencies on technical and procedural issues in the review of multi-benefit restoration projects. Consistent with good customer service practices and the goals of the State and Regional Board’s Strategic Plan, the incumbent is expected to be courteous and provide timely responses to internal/external customers, follow through on commitments, and to solicit and consider internal/external customer input when completing work assignments.
