Arts Instructors prepare and present lessons/activities for programs and classes while educating and motivating participants in a positive manner. Arts Instructors communicate effectively with members of the public and participants while exercising problem-solving skills and responding to customer concerns.
The Summer 2021 position openings for new and returning Professional Arts Instructors are in two categories:
1. Outreach Instructor to lead drop-in style youth education programs and encounters (“Art Pods”) in Portland’s parks. Work is at multiple locations; employees provide their own transportation to work sites. COVID-safe protocols will be in place and work will be supported by Parks staff. Hours are approximately 11 am – 2 pm, Monday – Thursday, in late June through August. Hours on Friday TBA for planning. Some light lifting/moving of equipment may be required. At least 4 “Art Pod” instructor positions are available.
2. Summer Art Camp Instructor to lead day-camp instructional activities for elementary school-age children at the Multnomah Arts Center (SW Portland). Monday – Thursday, in mid-June through August; AM & PM Shifts: 9am-Noon and 1pm-4pm; Hours on Friday TBA for planning. Some light lifting/moving of equipment may be required. At least 16 Summer Art Camp instructor positions are available.
