The Congressional Research Service is seeking to place an intern in the Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Trade Division – Europe and the Americas Section, for the Fall 2021 semester (for example, September to December 2021). The intern will join the Foreign Affairs, Defense and Trade Division’s Europe and the Americas Section. The intern will work with senior analysts in Latin American affairs and assist with research and writing projects. Duties may include identifying and collecting a wide range of news sources on the region; participating in various events and seminars and then providing summaries to CRS experts; conducting spot research on Latin American topics; and drafting portions of CRS written analysis in custom or public CRS written products, among other duties.
The intern will be able to network with CRS analysts in other sections and divisions as warranted.
The intern candidate should be a strong writer, and have the ability to conduct independent research. Intern should be fluent or at least proficient in Spanish, and have background in foreign policy and Latin American affairs.
Undergraduate and graduate students in international relations, political science, Latin American studies, public policy, Spanish, and history are encouraged to apply.
