ABOUT THE POSITION
There is one (1) full-time vacancy for a Senior Systems Engineer (Enterprise Resource Planning – ERP) in the Department of Information Services and Technology. To be considered for the Advanced Systems Engineer position, you must submit a separate application for that recruitment.
This position will serve as a technical expert in the delivery of solutions related to supporting the County enterprise, for both in-house and third-party vendor solutions. Currently these solutions include Tyler Munis and Tyler ExecuTime.
This position’s focus is on security and workflow, as well as some report design and development. Strong business process knowledge and business analysis skills are required to effectively advise departments on solution designs. This position will also need to ensure legal compliance and best practices in security and workflow for a Public Sector ERP system. Other responsibilities may include working with the operational departments to extract data and/or reconciliation needs as requested.
The Senior Systems Engineer is the technical specialist level in the series. Under direction, incumbents will ensure that assigned projects are efficiently and successfully delivered, tasks are properly documented, and processes are designed with a focus on continuous improvement and full lifecycle management.
Our Highly Qualified Candidate: The ideal candidate has a background in managing security and workflow in ERP systems preferably in Tyler Munis. Additionally, the candidate has some background in either finance or payroll business processes. They should demonstrate good decision making, planning skills and technical abilities. Strong business analysis skills and knowledge of or a background in system audits and compliance is also highly desirable.
The highly qualified candidate should be able to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing, to diverse groups of people across all levels of the organization. Additionally, they should be process improvement focused and able to translate functional needs to technical specifications, solutions oriented, open to change, and able to think creatively.
We recognize your time is valuable, so please do not apply if you do not have at least the following required Minimum Qualifications: Any six-year combination of recent professional experience and relevant computer science coursework that demonstrates the necessary knowledge and abilities. A typical way of achieving these requirements would be graduation with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in computer science or a related field and two years of work experience that demonstrate the skills needed to be proficient in the assigned role.
- Fifteen (15) semester units of computer science coursework from an accredited program and in a discipline relevant to the assignment is equivalent to a full year of related professional experience that has provided the required knowledge and abilities of the role.
- Required education may be substituted with related professional experience on a year for year basis.
- Internships completed in conjunction with coursework are excluded from being credited towards work experience, if they are counted towards educational requirements.
- Recent experience is defined as experience gained, in part, in the last five years or longer, if technically relevant.
