Overview

The Purpose University Mobile App educational technology mobile app project takes a deeper look a) racial inclusion and b) the concept of ‘purpose’ and its relationship to the marketplace, unemployment, and start-up incubators. The app trains faculty in diversity and helps low-income individuals find meaningful purpose through free, online, live and self-paced hybrid course instruction. The coursework uses augmented reality and 3-D video to motivate users to re-think purpose as a central motivation to employment and entrepreneurship. see more at drakefordassociates.org

The broader impact/commercial potential of this project is that Americans will be able to launch purpose-driven startups at-home through a smartphone, tablet, or computer. This project uses a proprietary critical self-reflection pedagogy, to help stay-at-home learners find clarity on their purpose and learn how to practically build a business or nonprofit to do their purposeful work. This project uses multiple cyber learning technology interfaces (i.e., self-paced e-courses, 3D-hologram instruction, 4D peer-to-peer virtual environments, and live online coaching), to provide cyber learning centered around the critically important mental-emotional-health and financial needs of Americans due to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. Through this technology Americans will form new meaningful connections through narrative sharing and purpose-driven startups. Adding a new 4D peer-to-peer learning component to online coursework students can build supportive groups and accountability partners. These purpose-driven online supportive networks can catalyze holistic lifestyle change to improve financial and health outcomes towards a more purposeful, joyful, and economically sound life. Learners become social-entrepreneurs prepared for the digital economy in a post COVID-19 world.

This project seeks to help Americans launch purpose-driven startups at-home through a smartphone, tablet, or computer. The theoretical underpinnings of this project are; Critical Theory, Engaged Pedagogy, Culturally Relevant Pedagogy, and Purpose Lifestyle Coaching. Nationally recognized research points to a subset of small business called young businesses as the primary drivers of America’s net job creation and productivity growth. Large corporations operate from a macro-economic view of business which makes them less agile, flexible, and dynamic in times of fluid economic crisis. Young businesses, who operate in a micro-enterprise reality, have less overhead and can quickly adjust to create new post-COVID-19 solutions. Research has found, high-growth businesses, which are disproportionately young, account for almost 50 percent of gross job creation. What makes this project unique is that it helps participants to critically self-reflect before they begin the startup process. This critical self-reflection helps participants to launch meaningful, dynamic, and lasting startups.

We are also looking to aggressive work in poor Black communities to help individuals launch purpose-driven businesses through the Purpose University Mobile App on iOS and Android

For this project, the intern must be available on Monday and Friday mornings to meet virtually. This is an unpaid internship experience. We need someone with initiative and creative problem solving skills. You must be good with technology…specifically zoom.us (video conferencing), excel, google sheets, google calendar, calendly, youcanbook.me, eventbrite, twitter, linked-in, and Instagram. Selected interns will receive financial stipends dependent upon availablity. If you are interested in helping and beefing up your resume and skill set apply here
