The Center for Advanced Light Microscopy in the Genentech’s Research Pathology Department is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic temporary Research Associate to join our core lab. This position will be working in the digital pathology & image analysis group that supports large teams with both basic research and clinical development projects. Duties will include digital microscope slide scanning of routine hematoxylin and eosin stained slides, special histology stains, as well as brightfield and fluorescently labeled immunohistochemistry slides with various chromogens and fluorophore kits. The successful applicant will also be responsible for tracking study materials and projects as they pass between core laboratories, pathologists, and investigators. Additional job responsibilities may include becoming proficient in basic programming to help automate repeated tasks in the daily workflow.
Basic computer skills, organizational skills, and clear communication with attention to detail. Effficient turnaround for a diverse set of projects as well as being able to work independently & flexibly are necessary. Knowledge of histology, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence is beneficial but not necessary. Experience with microscopy is preferable. This is an entry-level position.
B.S. degree in life-sciences related discipline.
