PLEASE NOTE: This is a NON-PAID ACADEMIC INTERNSHIP. It is an exciting opportunity to learn the basics of accounting, tax compliance and consulting while working in a CPA firm. The goals of the program are to have you master the basics of the accounting profession and provide you the valuable experience all employers seek. These positions can be part-time or full time, depending on the applicant’s qualifications.
We will provide the successful applicant with intensive training on Drake tax compliance software. The training will include, but not be limited to, how to properly set up clients in the application, understand the input variables and the implication of completing the input fields.
In addition, the successful applicant will be provided at least 40 hours of formal federal and California tax training, structured professional training on QuickBooks, and be introduced to international consulting assignments. The Intern will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned by mirroring the work of a CPA. The emphasis of this internship is training with real world experience.
A typical day will include reading/viewing training materials (one to two hours), applying the learning to sample clients with the help of the Supervisor (one to two hours), and working directly with the Supervisor to learn other tasks relating to working as a CPA.
Strong performing Interns may have the opportunity to work directly with real clients, under CPA supervision on engagements such as tax return preparation, consulting and international business development.
At the end of the Academic Internship the Intern should have mastered the tax and accounting software and be a reliable and valuable resource to an accounting firm.
The Intern will report directly to the Owner, who is a CPA/MBA
