Mt. Tam. United Methodist Church in Mill Valley is seeking an assistant teacher for our Godly Play Sunday School program for children ages 4 – 3rd grade. We are looking for an individual who demonstrates a love of working with children, enthusiasm, patience, gentleness, flexibility and a sense of humor.
This is a regular on-going position at 8-10 hours per month (2 hours per Sunday) and takes place on Sunday mornings from 10-12. Pay is an hourly rate of $25.
The Godly Play Teacher will prepare the classroom every Sunday, serve as the classroom assistant (door person in Godly Play language) and clean up and close the classroom following the service. There is the potential to serve as the Godly Play storyteller (classroom leader/teacher) once or twice a month should the candidate be interested. This would involve preparing for and leading a Godly Play lesson and would include an extra hour of paid prep time per Sunday leading. Other opportunities for work may arise throughout the year when childcare for special services and staffing for our annual summer camp program are needed.
Must submit to a background check prior to the start date. This position has a 3 month trial period followed by a review before final hire.
