To assist building administration in the planning, implementation, and assessment of the school-wide student management program and contribute to a positive school culture and climate.

- Valid and current Oregon Teaching License
- Minimum of three (3) years of teaching and/or counseling experience
- Experience and expertise in student behavior management, collaborative problem solving, and staff development
- Ability to provide leadership to staff in developing behavior support strategies
- Excellent interpersonal skills to consult effectively with teachers, administrators, students, and parents, in a variety of settings
- Ability to assist in the development of school plans and organizational procedures for health, safety and, and conduct of students within district policy guidelines and in partnership with teachers and approval of building principal
- Excellent command of oral and written English language and ability to present effectively to small and large groups
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with student, staff, and/or parent information
- Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and to meet deadlines
- Possess knowledge of child growth and development at each level of instruction
- Perform physical requirements which may include:
- Moderate to extensive degree of physical and emotional stamina
- Frequent and prolonged standing, walking, and sitting
- Ability to restrain students when necessary, respond to and stop student fights, etc.
- Frequent and prolonged talking/hearing conversations
- Possible exposure to bodily fluids due to student injury and illness
- Such alternative to the above requirements as the School Board or Administration may deem appropriate and acceptable
Essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned)
- Assists the administration in the implementation and evaluation of school-wide positive behavior procedures for all students
- Supports the successful development and implementation of positive behavior expectations and management strategies through modeling and/or co-teaching
- Teaches individual students strategies and skills including conflict resolution, responsibility, and problem-solving
- Consults with, and assists school staff and parents in developing student behavioral expectations
- Plans, develops, and implements individual student behavior contracts in collaboration with parents and building administrators
- Acts as a resource for staff with discipline issues and/or assisting teachers in effective and culturally appropriate classroom management practices
- Works with identified students for the purpose of modifying behaviors
- Assists the administration on disciplinary issues that may result in suspension and/or expulsion
- Assists in developing programs and/or activities to promote positive student behavior as well as intervention strategies
- Assesses, monitors, and provides feedback to students on their academic and/or behavioral progress as necessary
- In collaboration with other building staff, collects and reviews data related to school positive student behavior goals
- Works in cooperation with the youth services team, if applicable, which may include the juvenile court system, community resource person, and/or agencies that provide services for students and families. Keeps building staff up-to-date on students, as appropriate and as
- Provides information on school behavior plans, programs, and policies
- Takes precautions to provide for the health and safety of all students
- Takes precautions to secure and protect District material, equipment, and facilities
- Participates in activities related to school functions and/or the education process that occur outside the regular school day, in accordance with the collective bargaining
- Performs other duties as assigned
Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions with routine exposure to the weather including seasonal heat and cold. Subject to frequent loud noises in the environment.
Hearing and speaking to exchange information; seeing to perform assigned duties; sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment; kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, to retrieve and store files and materials, and lifting light objects.
Strength: Sedentary/Medium – Exert force to 10-25 lbs. frequently, and up to 10 lbs. constantly or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. May be required to restrain a student using moderate strength (20-50 pounds push or pull) and MANDT techniques.
Intermittent bending, twisting, squatting kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, reaching. On feet throughout the day. Work effectively in an environment that can be both physically and emotionally fatiguing.
Work with students who may exhibit aggressive behavior, as required of specific job assignment.

Dependent on the employee’s status and the terms of the current licensed employee collective bargaining agreement
Placement on the current North Santiam School District Licensed employee salary schedule
Performance of this position will be evaluated according to the District’s process for evaluation of licensed personnel.
