The University of Nebraska at Omaha is seeking a
Completion Imperative Specialist
The Completion Imperative Specialist (CIS) works with UNO Exploratory Studies students to help define their transition to the collegiate setting, engage in their academic development, and overcome obstacles that may lead to their withdrawal or dismissal.
The Specialist aims to promote growth and awareness in students while they adjust to college, establish their academic and professional goals, and choose a best-fit major.
The Specialist helps to monitor and track persistence in enrollment, good academic standing, and appropriate progress toward graduation and alerts UNO agencies to serious problems for which interventions may be necessary.
The Specialist supports Exploratory Studies faculty in planning and implementation of workshops and activities that support student success (e.g., Clifton Strengths, study skills, time management, financial literacy, and navigating imposter syndrome).
Assists with community outreach efforts, such as coordinating orientation/enrollment activities for Exploratory Studies students and parents and serving as family navigator to provide support to students and families new to UNO.
The Specialist will work with students and staff to enhance the community and the overall success of the students through other programmatic needs defined by the Director and the Exploratory Studies team.
This is a two-year appointment concluding June 2023. Continued employment beyond this date is dependent on the renewal of funding.
· Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field preferred.
· Required Experience: Three years’ experience working with college students and/or teaching experience, and/or academic advising experience.
· Experience working with college students and faculty in a university environment.
· Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience
