Office of Military and Veteran Services
The Director of the Office of Military and Veteran Services drives strategic vision of the office in alignment with the values of the Division of Student Success, UNO, and the NU system. The Director leads across UNO in research on military-connected student success, raising awareness and teaming around efforts to support the success of military-connected students from a data and research-centered perspective. The OMVS Director leads by developing a strength-focused organization to enable staff to grow in their top talents and strengths. That highly talented staff is empowered to provide holistic support of military-affiliated students in the eight dimensions of wellness via purposeful connections and teaming with other UNO offices and community partner resources. The Director drives strategic engagement with stakeholders via high-impact educational programs and cutting-edge research. The Director of OMVS is responsible for building strategic relationships and attracting external funding. The Director is expected to be a leader in the veteran transition space and will lead OMVS as it plays a central role in the national conversation by building a platform that transforms the tools available to service members as they make the transition to civilian life. The Director will leverage robust use of research and data to inform not only programming to achieve impact, but to be a leader in sharing knowledge and insight.
· Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration or related field.
· Three years’ experience in education, university student services, or related field.
· Prior supervisory experience.
· Experience with strategic visioning and assessment of operations and programming.
· Experience working with a military population either in a university setting or elsewhere.
