Oregon Tech is seeking applications for a Counselor who will be a part of the Oregon Tech’s Student Affairs division. This is a 10-month, full-time position located on the Oregon Tech campus in Wilsonville, Oregon. The successful applicant will be reporting to the Associate Dean of Students, the Counselor provides personal, academic, career and crisis counseling to students, primarily within a one-to-one setting in-person, with an option to utilize TeleHealth as requested by students. The counselor will engage in clinical assessment, assigns DSM diagnoses, and refers for medication or medical care as appropriate. The Counselor will receive weekly consultation with other clinical staff members (including the ISHC Director, psychiatric advanced practice nurse, staff psychologist, and other counseling staff) and will participate (remotely) in the Integrated Student Health Center counseling team’s weekly clinical consultation meetings. Because the Counselor may intervene with suicidal or homicidal students they will regularly make decisions which have the potential to save a human life (or cost a life, putting the college at significant legal risk). The Counselor will need to be clear about their boundaries with clients and for keeping confidentiality; and also will need to know what duties they are not yet competent to perform. Additionally, the Counselor is responsible for working in a safe manner, compliant with safety regulations, maintaining ethical guidelines and professional boundaries.
*Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or closely related mental health field.
*Minimum of one year experience in counseling or mental health setting required (but can include time spent in internship/practicum).
*Experience facilitating individual counseling with clients.
*Licensed or license-eligible as professional counselor, social worker, or marriage and family therapist.
