Magazine – Music Content Curator – Internship
Picture This Post magazine, www.picturethispost.com, alerts time-strapped readers to cultural offerings that are the best match for their interests in art, books, dance, film, museums, music, theater, as well as travel with a focus on culture. We not only cover culture creators and venues with high name recognition, but also delight in helping to showcase bold, creative strokes by fledgling artists in all genres.
Amy Munice, Editor in Chief, will be the primary supervisor of your internship. She is the co-publisher of the magazine, a 30+ year PR professional and freelance journalist, and cultural reporter who has penned many hundreds of articles. She will be the author of your future reference for job hunting purposes.
You will be responsible for keeping a to-do list updated in real time, and a cumulative report- -which if possible, we would prefer you also share with your school internship supervisor.
Training sessions are held by zoom—usually in small groups—throughout the week and weekend. Initially you will need to adapt your schedule in order to attend training sessions for your role in the soonest possible timeframe. Once you have the prerequisite skills, you determine your schedule each week in order to meet your school’s hour requirements for your internship.
ALL VOLUNTEERS – ALL REMOTE WORKERS:
Picture This Post is an entirely volunteer organization, from top to bottom. We are a not-for-profit (as opposed to a 501c3 non-profit) – too small to hire accountants etc. needed for non-profit status. Students are like all volunteers EXCEPT that much time/energy goes into training students and helping you develop a portfolio for future job hunting.
As a Music Content Curator, you will learn the skills involved in creating previews, interview articles, and updated listings of music events in the Picture This Post READERS’ CALENDAR.
YOU ARE A KEY PART OF THE EDITORIAL TEAM—YOUR BEAT IS MUSIC

You will be tasked with keeping our music section content FRESH and INTRIGUING (previews, interviews, event listings of particular interest to the music enthusiasts in our readership).
This job involves developing a working knowledge of multiple types of content on the magazine— calendar entries, previews, interviews and roundup articles.
Your first job/s will be to attend training sessions and use self-study guides that will allow you to master the prerequisite skills to fulfilling this role: editing press releases to previews; conducting email interviews; editorial correspondence to line-up interviews; securing images required for our picture-rich format; layout; social media; uploading music news events to the READERS’ CALENDAR; and networking via social media with music creators and others in the music world.
This student volunteer position is designed to immerse you in the processes of online publication. While not listed as an “internship” position, most of our past and current student volunteers concur that the training and educational opportunities in this and other Picture This Post volunteer positions far exceeds that of most internship jobs. The more time you put into this experience the more you will get out of it. Many volunteers take on multiple roles and more responsibilities that give them more to show at the end of their time at Picture This Post – a fat portfolio of published articles among other lists of accomplishments.
