Department: Instructional Faculty, Upper School
Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related field, although a master’s degree in one of these disciplines is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in at least one programming language and have a breadth of experience in computer science disciplines. Candidates should be excited to teach a variety of computer science electives to high school students with different levels of prior exposure to Computer Science. The ideal candidate will have experience with project-based learning, a desire to integrate new technology into the classroom, and to work within a strong and collegial teaching team.
As importantly, we seek candidates who have demonstrated success in working with young people, and who will approach their role as a teacher with a drive to better understand the emotional needs of their students and support a program where self-reflection, empathy, and flexibility are valued.
A Bachelor’s degree is required. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Candidates should support the mission of SPA, the vision of the Upper School, and be eager to join a professional community where collaboration is valued and where openness to growth is the norm.
