Overview
We are seeking a proactive and skilled individual for a hybrid position responsible for the full technical support lifecycle of industrial automation systems. This role involves a blend of remote diagnostics, on-site field engineering, and software scripting to ensure optimal system performance for our clients.
Location, Travel, and Availability
- Location: Hybrid (Office and Field)
- Travel: Up to 45% travel is required, which may include occasional weekends and holidays.
- Availability: Must participate in a rotating after-hours support schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Remote Technical Support: Serve as a point of contact for remote troubleshooting of PLC, conveyor, and automation issues via phone and remote desktop.
- Field Engineering: Travel to customer sites for the installation, commissioning, and emergency repair of vision systems, robotics, and industrial controls.
- Incident Management: Efficiently manage the service ticket lifecycle from the initial call to documented resolution using professional service desk tools.
- Software & Scripting: Utilize C# or Python to develop internal support tools, automate workflows, and troubleshoot custom SCADA/HMI scripts.
- System Diagnostics: Troubleshoot complex hardware/software interfaces and industrial networking, including protocols like EtherNet/IP and Modbus.
- Customer Training: Provide effective education to clients and internal staff on equipment operation, safety, and maintenance procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Software Engineering or Computer Science; OR an Associate’s degree in Electro-mechanical Technology with equivalent experience.
- Automation Experience: Proven proficiency with PLC programming and motorized roller conveyor systems.
- Software Skills: Experience with C# and Python for automation, data manipulation, or custom application development is highly encouraged.
- Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex system failures under pressure in both remote and high-noise industrial environments.
- Logistics: Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Preferred Skills
-Expertise in Ignition (Inductive Automation) or ICONICS.
-Experience with SQL database management (MS SQL, MySQL) and Python/Python scripting.
-Programming and troubleshooting Fanuc (TP/KAREL) or Mitsubishi robots.
-Configuration of Cognex or Keyence vision and barcode systems.
-Configuration of managed switches, VLANs, and VPN gateways
-Prior experience using technical incident management platforms such as Odoo, Jira, Salesforce, or Zendesk.
