The Restoration Associate Crew Member will be based out Tecumseh, MI. They will be part of a restoration crew (1 crew leader & 3 members) that travels across Michigan conducting maintenance, restoration, management, and monitoring of Conservancy preserves and partners lands. They will manage natural resources, remove invasive/exotic species using mechanical and/or chemical methods, and conduct species monitoring. They may assist in prescribed burns and operate/maintain tools and equipment. The Restoration Associate will use GPS and geographic information systems (GIS) to identify, record and map non-native, invasive species. They will use and maintain equipment, power tools, vehicles, trailers and GPS units. The Restoration Associate will maintain preserve records using a data base on a Windows PC.
This position requires frequent travel throughout Michigan. Travel accommodations will be provided by The Nature Conservancy. Due to current TNC guidelines concerning COVID-19, housing may be available for these positions for the duration of this position. When traveling to maintain preserves in the upper peninsula they may be required to camp during the work week. This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible with a duration of 12 months. The hourly rate for this position is $17/hour.
