“Conservation Begins Here”
Leader Teams consist of members and leaders who have previously served with SCA, whether as a leader or member of a team or through an individual internship. These experienced crews work to complete projects such as trail building and maintenance, removing invasive species, installing signs, and other conservation projects in the field.
The 2021 Voyageurs Leader Team, made up of 1 leader and 4 members, will spend 6 weeks improving back country trails in Voyageurs National Park.
Please note: While we are looking to fill 5 positions, for this particular position, we are looking for 1 Crew Leader. The candidate must have previous SCA experience.
This team’s project involves rehabilitation of the Locator and Shoepack Lake trail systems. Work includes removing blown down trees and encroaching vegetation to reopen the trail corridor, installing sections of raised trails, wood board walk, waterbars, and tread surface, constructing rock cairns and installing signs.
This crew will be camping for the duration of their time on site. Team will be boated to campsites that may not have amenities like running water, electricity, or cell service. The team will either hike or canoe to their work sites daily. The crew will begin their season at Wooden Frog Campground, which has potable water and toilet facilities.
The team requires at least one member or the leader to have chainsaw certifications.
- Team member benefits:$325/week living allowance
- One-time travel allowance ($650)
- Housing (campsite) and field-based meals
- Uniform stipend of $200
