Dive into digital marketing and learn and implement WeCare’s content marketing strategy. This includes: content, SEO, analytics, user-interface tactics, and design. The Intern will be given access to our website and social media profiles and need to find insurance/finance topics to learn then write about. The goal is to simplify topics and provide the most relevant information for users.
After training, the two main assignments to report every week: 1) Study WeCare’s educational resources; 2) Task assigned from the previous meeting. Each week your supervisor will provide feedback on your task. We want you to challenge yourself and learn beyond what you know, think outside the box, create your own tasks within the job scope and even consult us on how to better our marketing.
Additionally, you will work with the other interns on a project throughout the semester. These projects are aligned with WeCare’s content marketing strategy and will allow interns to work more collaboratively and increase knowledge in digital marketing. The first project is working with us in creating an informative YouTube video and the 2nd varies each semester but revolves around the website.
This is an education-focused unpaid internship. Our core learning objective is to obtain a strong understanding of digital marketing from content creation to distribution. By the end of the internship, interns should be able to run digital marketing for a business, create engaging content and know-how to strategize to bring more people to their content/product. Interns will be expected to use WeCare resources and secondary sources to fulfill assignments each week, using the weekly meetings for training, walk-throughs, and collaboration.
Note: Interns will need to learn WordPress. Here is the orientation slide show containing an outline of what interns will learn over the semester: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1uv0z_QBYa6067WLePGqUJc8A-ugLP-8CYL0JrS1cLtU/edit?usp=sharing
We are looking for students who are serious in a digital marketing career. People who are creative, self-driven, entrepreneurial, expressive, and always trying to learn are great for this position. Your supervisor and mentor is Chris Cook. He is an entrepreneur and throughout his career has been developing a content marketing strategy that will be shared with you throughout the internship. At the end of the internship, you will be given an evaluation to better prepare you for your career.
We expect 10-12 hours per week. After that, we are flexible with hours to fulfill internship requirements. There will be at least one meeting a week with the supervisor. At the beginning of the semester, interns will be given an internship handbook (Google Classroom) to learn from and use as a resource throughout the internship. We will also have an orientation meeting going over expectations and teaching how interns can fulfill their position. Interns may work together to complete assignments and projects.
This is a remote-based internship which means that meetings and work will have no definitive location or office hours. Instead, we will find a time to meet on a weekly basis to discuss learnings and assignments. We will use Discord for text communication and video calls.
