Who & What:
Interns will develop InsurTech applications. InsurTech makes insurance easier for brokers and customers. Interns will be placed on a team and be lead by a non-technical manager. Interns will participate in making decisions on how to best proceed with tasks. There may be a steep learning curve in the process of learning/building the application that meet project requirements, but interns will gain experience in web development, teamwork, and consultation.
This is an autonomous internship, meaning interns will have to learn independently. This internship is not for students that want strict guidance and mentorship. Interns need to explore and are expected to create, manage and report their own tasks. Tasks may include app development, web automation, and creating instructional materials for future developers at We Care. Interns will also present and educate others on their work. We are looking for someone who is self-driven, self-disciplined, analytical, and always trying to learn.
When & Where:
Both full-time and part-time hours are available. We expect a minimum of 10 hours a week. After that, we are flexible with hours and there will always be enough work to fulfill school requirements. At the start of the semester interns will be trained over several meetings in the first two weeks. Interns will be given a handbook to help them learn the application and code and tools needed to understand the project and how to fulfill tasks.
There will be 1-2 meetings a week with the supervisor and at least one meeting a week as a team (if a team is applicable). Interns may work together on assignments and projects. Teams and the supervisor will arrange times when they are available. This is a remote based internship which means that meetings and work will have no definite location. Interns will need access to video call technology (Google Meet or Zoom).
