The Youth Mental Health Academy (YMHA) is seeking undergraduates, graduates and early career professionals interested in sharing their experience and guidance with high school students as they explore careers in mental health.
The vision of YMHA is to diversify mental health and associated fields by providing mentorship, project-based learning, and internships to students from traditionally underserved communities.
As a Mentor, you will
- Be matched with a group of 4–6 students
- Assist students in making informed decisions to achieve academic and career goals
- Work with established mental health experts
- Cultivate positive and supportive relationships
How it works
Mentors will provide guidance and encouragement to mentees as they complete a capstone project during a 5-week summer academy. Mentors will stay in touch virtually during the school year to maintain relationships and provide continued support and motivation.
50-Hour Time Commitment
- June 2024: Virtual Orientation Activities (6 hours)
- June 2024 – July 2024: In-Person 5-Week Summer Academy (4 hours/week)
- August 2024 – May 2025: Virtual Meetings & Workshops (2.5 hours/month)
