We are a national youth sports broadcast network looking for Youth Sports Producer Work Experience Candidates. Your task is to produce broadcasts featuring content relative to the youth sports market in a compelling, creative and engaging style. Besides learning how to manage the pressures of working with deadlines and getting broadcasts completed on time, you will gain experience in internet and television broadcast distribution, and community engagement while also boosting your resume. You will receive exposure to many aspects of the Kids Sports News Network mission.
Duties may include, but are not limited, to the following:
• Create and design sportscasts for broadcast on the internet and television
• Insure that each broadcast is filled with compelling content
• Structure broadcasts into an organized list of all the segments to be covered, the way they will look on air and the order thin which they will appear
• Establish a smooth and interesting flow for the sportscast.
• Decide how to group stories and content, how much time to allocate to each and what to hold back so that the middle and the end of the sportscast are just as compelling as the beginning.
• Attend youth sports events, as required, with production crew and reporters
• Should be able to go in depth and craft stories and capture content in a memorable fashion
• Assist production crew with the set up work
• Be skilled at catching sound bites for use in segment features
• Be knowledgeable and confident in asking
• Need to keep up-to-date with local and national youth sports
• Excellent computer/internet skills
• Must be able to meet deadlines consistently
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Sports background a plus
Bonus Skills (preferred but not required):
-Able to Use a Mac and PC
-Experience with Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
-Photo Editing Experience and Knowledge
-Video Editing Experience and Knowledge
-Interest in and enthusiasm for youth sports
-Bilingual in Spanish and English
Activities for this position may include, but are not limited to:
• Meeting with network designees to discuss assignments, due dates and production schedules schedules.
• Participate in editorial meetings
• Perform research, attend interviews and events such as games, tournaments and press conferences.

Compensation: Non paid work experience position. Academic credit is available
Starting Date: As soon as possible. Assessment prior to official start date
Location: Southern California
Examples of Duties:
• Videotapes youth sports content for production using video camera equipment; makes technical decisions regarding such elements as appropriate lighting, shooting angle and placement and type of microphone; receives explicit instructions regarding assignment.
• Assists a producer/director regarding preconceived ideas and physical realities of production setting.
• Tests all equipment to determine technical quality of recording, audio and lighting apparatus prior to operation in the field.
• Oversees the security, operation and maintenance of equipment utilized in shooting and editing.
Training to includes:
• Field production techniques and standards.
• Skill in visualizing and shooting concepts effectively.
• “In studio” production techniques and standards.
• Interview production techniques and standards.
