Late relief position. In this role you’d take 2 shifts during the week (weekends and weekdays) and basically be available until about 9pm PST (so if you’re on the East Coast, might not be the best position for you). Really similar to the Breaking News position although your shift will be shorter (say like 4 hour max) and we won’t be feeding you stories in the same way that the Breaking News Writer would. For the most part, you’re literally just available in case something newsworthy happens at night, which is usually pretty rare. Usually you’ll write 2-3 stories per shift, some may be on the shorter side (~250 words) but others (i.e. when someone great has died) may require more lengthy writing, up to 500 words or so (these will be rare stories).
Prior experience in journalism not required but preferred.
